Burger King and Nestle replace Everest in Piata Romana
Burger King, operated as a franchise
by businessmen Eli Davidai and Marius Nasta, through Atlantic Restaurant System
company, in Romania and the biggest Swiss food group Nestle are the new tenants
of the more than 440 square metre space in Piaţa Romană occupied by the Everest
restaurant until March.
"We rented the about 443 square metre area plus
its 300 square metre outdoor space for a Burger King fast food restaurant and
for a Nescafe coffee shop for ten years," stated the representatives of
the Metropolitan Leasing, the owner of the space.
Burger King management says that 70% of
the space will be taken up by the restaurant to be opened by yearend. Nestle
did not provide any information about the new contract, saying that more
details could be provided "in one week".
At an average rent of 40 euros per square metre as charged in the area,
Metropolitan Leasing will collect at least 200,000 euros per year from this
space alone. The former tenant, Everest Foods, left the space in March after
having gone insolvent, pressured by the space owner and its main creditor. The
new restaurant and coffee shop are sandwiched between the top two players on
the fast-food market, McDonald's and KFC.
