Holcim (Romania) SA presently owns 3 cement plants in Turda (grinding), Campulung and Alesd, a network of 18 ready-mix concrete plants, 2 special binders and 5 aggregate plants. The environmentally friendly concept initiated in
Romania as a premiere by Holcim, guarantees that concrete plants are based on the latest technology that eliminates noise, dust and allows fresh concrete recycling.
In 2008 only, Holcim (Romania) SA invested almost EUR 1.46 million at the level of cement, aggregates and concrete plants for improving occupational health and safety (OH&S). Along with OH&S, the protection of the environment has always been one of the priorities of Holcim and, in this respect, the company has developed strategies at European standards. In terms of figures, the company has invested more than EUR 28 million for the protection of the environment since 1997.
The investments made by Holcim in its plants since coming to
Romania in 1997 until the end of 2008 value approximately EUR 660 million, of which EUR 150 million were invested in 2008. Holcim
Romania is the first company in its field that received in 2003 triple certification for quality management (SR ENISO 9001), environmental management (SR EN ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001).
