Holcim Romania inaugurates a new plant producing mineral aggregates in Gligoresti Date: 2007-11-16

The aggregates plant is located in Luna commune, Gligoresti village, and serves the counties of Cluj and Mures. The equipment for sorting, washing and crushing is fixed, has a capacity of processing ballast of 230 tonnes per hour, and was produced by SBM Mineral Processing Austria.

“Due to the sustained efforts of my colleagues involved in this project, we succeeded once again to offer local solutions to the needs of our clients. The investment at Gligoresti brings modern technology which allows the production of mineral aggregates of controlled quality, under full safety conditions during exploitation and with the lowest impact on the environment. And, since the care for the environment is one of our priorities, our investment programme includes the reintegration of the site at the end of the exploitation into a fish habitat” said Markus Wirth, Country Manager of Holcim (Romania). The plant producing mineral aggregates in Gligoresti delivers sand 0-4 mm, gravel 4-8 mm and 8-16 mm, crushed stone 16-25 mm, ballast and oversized material. The quality of these products is continuously checked by specific analyses performed by laboratories, which are authorised and endowed with modern equipment.

The implementation and successful operation of a fully integrated management system illustrate the seriousness the company has been engaged in offering quality products and services. Due to this management system, at the beginning of 2004 Holcim (Romania) received from the international body TÜV Rheinland a triple certification for all its work units for quality management (ISO 9001), environment management (ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001).

Presently, Holcim (Romania) offers to its clients ballast products from five work units located in Rancaciov, Zarnesti, Brasov, Piscani and Gligoresti.

Holcim (Romania) invests this year EUR 86 million in a series of projects related to the update of production technology, environmental protection, business development, occupational health and safety, and social and human resources projects.
