SwissCEE Agency: Successful acquisition of maintenance tools in Romania Date: 2009-04-28

SwissCEE provides support for ABB in the choice of a production site and manages the selection process for suitable contractors
 
To optimise purchase prices and achieve higher flexibility, ABB Turbo Systems planned to procure tools in Central and Eastern Europe. SwissCEE obtained the order to provide support in the selection of a future production site and potential contractor.
 
As a first step, SwissCEE identified the most suitable production site based on a tools analysis. Romania turned out to be the most apt location for the long term. As a second step, SwissCEE located possible contractors in Romania through self-assessments based on the criteria defined together with ABB Turbo Systems. After a preliminary visit on site by SwissCEE, ABB selected a number of contractors before visiting their production sites in Romania. As a result, ABB Turbo Systems was able to use relevant facts and figures for its strategic decisions.
 
Stefan A. Meier, Head of Purchasing Raw/Finished Material of ABB Turbo Systems, states : « The suggested production site proved to be absolutely the right one after our travel there.We are convinced that our project objectives will be achieved.
