Launching Conference Energy Cities
The launching conference for the programme “Energy
Cities” took place on the 1st of July 2011 in Bucharest as part of the
“Environment and Infrastructure” chapter of the Swiss Contribution.
Mayors and energy managers of 45 cities with
45’000 to 350’000 inhabitants were invited to the event in
order to be informed on the potential and benefits of sustainable energy
management in cities.
Interested cities
then had time until the 30 September 2011 to apply for participation in the
Energy cities programme. More than 20 applications have been received and will
be evaluated; up to four cities will be selected for
participation.
Thematic fund
Security started
The implementation of the
Thematic fund Security has started and a first mission of the Swiss Intermediate
Body to Romania took place end of July. The Swiss experts met with their
Romanian partners from the prospective Executing Agencies and other
interested
institutions.
First call for
Scholarships
The 5th regular open call within the framework of
the Sciex Programme for the New Member States was
launched on 1st September. Researchers from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia,
Poland and, for the first time, from Bulgaria and Romania are invited to submit
their applications until 1st November 2011.
Launch of the Romanian-Swiss
Research Programme 2011 - 2016
The
Launch of the Romanian-Swiss Research Programme 2011 - 2016 took place on 16
September 2011 at the Academy of Economic Studies in
Bucharest. The event has been organised by the Swiss National Scientific
Foundation and its Romanian partner UEFISCDI. The high number of participants
proved the substantial interest by the Romanian and Swiss scientific
community in the possibilities offered
by the Romanian-Swiss Research Programme 2011 - 2016.
Extension of
Bucharest Metro system
The Project Outline for the
Feasibility Study for the extension of Metro Line 4 extension Gara de
Nord – Gara Progresu has been
approved by Switzerland on 12 July 2011. Therefore, the extension of Bucharest
Metro Line 4 is the first project to have been approved in principal by Switzerland. On this basis the
executing agency, Metrorex, is now preparing the final project proposal to be
hopefully approved in early summer next year.
