Holcim Romania has launched, back in April, ECOPlanet, the green cement, on the local market. This is just one of the novelties announced by Holcim Romania, which recently repositioned itself and proposed a range of products and services to change the way Romania is building, accelerating the transition to a greener built environment.
ECOPlanet is one of the company's flagships in terms of products, alongside ECOPact, the green concrete range, both being an integral part of ECONCEPT, the new business model proposed by Holcim Romania.
This new collaboration model puts forward other novelties applicable locally, including pilot services such as the LifeCycle Assessment (LCA), CO2 footprint simulations, climatic expertize assistance, EPD and technical assistance.
ECONCEPT - a new business model launched by Holcim Romania
Holcim Romania has repositioned itself, launching in March a new business model - ECONCEPT.
ECONCEPT represents Holcim Romania's promise for sustainability, implemented on all organizational levels, from operational to commercial. At the same time, ECONCEPT is based on a strategy with clear sustainability objectives, in line with the Net-Zero Pledge assumed by the LafargeHolcim Group globally, which aims to accelerate the transition to a greener built environment.
Based on an innovative commercial offer in terms of climate impact, the new collaboration model includes three complementary directions: ECO Solutions (green, low-carbon products and solutions), ECO Services (instruments and consultancy services for the construction of sustainable projects), and ECO Score (evaluations and certifications that endorse the climatic performances of the local portfolio).
As a novelty for the construction sector in Romania, Holcim launched ECOPact - green concrete with over 30% CO2 emissions reduction, designed to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable construction environment. Apart from this, Romania has launched ECOPlanet, the green cement. Both ECOPact and ECOPlanet represent the flagship products proposed by Holcim Romania, as ECO Solutions within the new business model ECONCEPT.
Apart from these, the ECO Solutions include innovative tools for the local construction sector, namely LifeCycle Assessment (LCA), that evaluates the environmental impact, and a carbon footprint simulator for Holcim products.
At the same time, Holcim Romania has set new standards on the local market, launching the Holcim Green Label (Eticheta Verde Holcim), a transparent evaluation system, applicable locally, which indicates the level of CO2 emissions and the percentage of recycled materials used in the manufacturing process. This system (Eticheta Verde Holcim) complements the ECO Label, launched by the LafargeHolcim Group and will be present, graphically, on all products in Romania with a minimum of low emissions or/and recycled materials. Both Eticheta Verde and ECO Label are part of the ECO Score innovations, integrated within the larger framework of ECONCEPT.
Holcim Romania range of products and solutions with low CO2 footprint is designed for long-lasting constructions, meeting, at the same time, the regulatory requirements and social expectations, while protecting and preserving the environment.
The range includes cements, concretes and hydraulic binders for buildings and infrastructure projects, commercial, industrial, or residential.
Holcim Romania also started an extensive internal campaign, called the ABC of Sustainability, in which local specialists present, for everyone's understanding, what sustainability means, how it is integrated in our business and what Holcim Romania does concretely to achieve sustainability at all levels. In addition to the understanding of all business aspects, the ultimate goal of this campaign, which will run throughout the entire year, is to make its own employees sustainability ambassadors.
Also, during this period, Holcim Romania organizes the Sustainability School, a series of workshops designed for the sales teams, so that they understand the direction in which the business is heading and how to promote Holcim’s range of products and solutions from this perspective.
Along with this repositioning, Holcim Romania has announced that it has reshaped its sustainability objectives, in line with the Net-Zero Pledge. These objectives are based on 3 pillars of action: reducing CO2 emissions, recovering resources through circular economy and innovatingthe company's solutions and products. The actions will take shape by constantly decreasing the products’ CO2 footprint, by gradually replacing the natural resources with alternative raw materials and fuels in the production process, as well as by continuously developing and digitalizating Holcim products and solutions.
