Geberit Celebrates 150 Years of Innovation and Tradition

About Geberit

Founded in 1874 in the historic center of Rapperswil, Switzerland, Geberit started as a family business. Thirty years later, the company's founder, Albert Gebert, created a wooden water cistern lined with lead. The company's success continued with the invention of the first plastic cistern in 1952 and the concealed cistern in 1964.

The production network includes 26 manufacturing facilities, four of which are overseas. The group's headquarters are in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland. With approximately 11,000 employees in about 50 countries, Geberit generated sales of CHF 3.1 billion in 2023. Geberit's shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and have been included in the SMI (Swiss Market Index) since 2012.

"150 Years of Tomorrow" – A Legacy of Quality, Innovation, and Partnership

For 150 years, Geberit's partners have relied on the company's innovative strength. "Making good things even better has been our credo since day one. In doing so, we always put our customers at the center," says Christian Buhl, CEO of Geberit.

An example of this innovative force is the Geberit concealed cistern, introduced to the market in 1964. Today, Geberit concealed cisterns and Geberit Duofix installation frames set the standard in the sanitary industry.

"Our comprehensive system solutions continue to set standards, then, now, and in the future," affirms Christian Buhl.
