Romania's Economy

Romania will have an economic increase of 2.8% according to the World Economic Outlook Report drafted by the International Monetary Fund. The increase of Romania's economy accelerates based on planned investments and loans coming from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Regarding the inflation rate, IMF estimates an average annual growth of 6% for 2024 in comparison to 10.4% in 2023.
The public debt is estimated at 7.1% of GDP.
The unemployment rate is foreseen to reach 5.6%.

Swiss Investments in Romania

3.7% of total foreign direct investment stock of Romania (that is more than 100 billions euros) is represented by Swiss FDI Stock in 2022:

Swiss - Romanian Trade Exchange Evolution

Romania exported goods worth 753 million euros to Switzerland in 2023 and imported goods worth 1 billion euros from Switzerland. The trade deficit in the Romania-Switzerland relationship decreased to 328 million euros in 2023, compared to 582 million euros in 2022.

???? The Chamber of Commerce Switzerland – Romania has a new Board of Directors
Over 60 Swiss and Romanian managers, entrepreneurs, and investors voted at the General Assembly held on Monday evening, April 15, 2024, to elect the new Board of Directors of The Chamber of Commerce Switzerland – Romania.

The new CCE-R Board, reflecting a diverse array of industry expertise, elected a new President of the Chamber: Dr. Adriana Cioca, MBA, M.A., Managing Director of Artemis Romania, a part of Artemis Holding Switzerland.

The Chamber currently brings together 120 members from various sectors, who together globally generate total revenues of 19.8 billion euros and employ over 18,000 people.

The Code of Trust: Safeguarding Businesses in the Era of Emerging Technologies

This event was held in Bucharest, on May 14, by the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Romania, the IT training center Swiss WebAcademy and the IT companies Team Extension and mindit.io. It addressed the expected impact of new technologies and new vulnerabilities in business. The event was initiated by the IT & Cyber Security Content Working Group of the Chamber coordinated by Daniela Chrzanovski and Moe Jame.

On April 22nd, CCE-R members stepped into the world of advanced orthopedics during an exclusive tour at Zimmer Biomet’s facility in Bucharest. This event showcased how Zimmer Biomet is pushing the boundaries of medical technology, enhancing patient mobility and health outcomes globally.
