Our history begins in 1866, with the foundation of the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company. Henri Nestlé develops a breakthrough infant food in 1867, and in 1905 the company he founded merges with Anglo-Swiss, to form what is now known as the Nestlé Group. During this period cities grow and railways and steamships bring down commodity costs, spurring international trade in consumer goods. From 2006 to nowadays, Nestlé articulates its Creating Shared Value approach to business for the first time, and launches its Nestlé Cocoa Plan and Nescafé Plan to further develop sustainable supply chains in cocoa and coffee. While strengthening its position in traditional segments, infant formula and frozen foods, Nestlé strengthens its focus on medical nutrition.
We began work in Romania in July of 1995, with only 6 employees and representatives with the main role to import cereals for breakfast, coffee, baby food, instant soup and spices. In 2000 we purchased JOE brand, which has become one of the most valued brands in our portfolio. Currently, in Romania, Nestlé has about 900 employees in offices in Bucharest and Timisoara. We are one of the leading players in the Food & Beverage industry in Romania through both market share and the success of our brands - mostly topped their class.
In our work we follow several principles respected in all countries where we are present - taking care to respect local laws and culture. These principles are continuously adapts demands of a changing environment, but they reflect exactly the ideas that Nestle always relied fairness, honesty and concern for people.
